Biography
Education
Li studied information management at Peking University and computer science at the University at Buffalo.
RankDex
At IDD Information Services in 1996 he developed RankDex, a search algorithm that used links between sites to judge relevance, and patented it, before Google’s PageRank.
Baidu
After working at Infoseek, he returned to Beijing and co-founded Baidu with Eric Xu in 2000. Baidu, named after a Song-dynasty poem, listed on the Nasdaq in 2005.
AI
Baidu has run the Apollo autonomous-driving platform and the Apollo Go robotaxi service, and launched the Ernie Bot chatbot in 2023.
