Cookies & local storage
Every cookie and browser-storage item TrackFame uses, what it does and how long it lasts.
At a glance
- Two essential cookies: one for your session and one for “Keep me logged in”.
- Your theme and suggestion drafts are remembered on your own device.
- No advertising, social-media or cross-site tracking cookies — and analytics without cookies.
- Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control switch our analytics off.
This summary is for convenience. The full text below is what applies.
1.Our approach
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. “Local storage” and “session storage” are similar browser features that let a site remember a setting on your device. This notice lists every one that TrackFame uses.
The short version: we use only what is strictly necessary for the site to work and to remember choices you make. We do not use advertising, social-media or cross-site tracking cookies, and our analytics do not use cookies at all. That is why you do not see a cookie banner here.
2.Cookies we set
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
tf_sid | Cookie, first-party, essential | Set on your first visit. Keeps your session: signs you in, protects forms against cross-site request forgery and shows one-off messages such as “Comment posted”. Marked HttpOnly and SameSite, and Secure on HTTPS. | Until you close the browser; the server ends it after 120 minutes without activity |
tf_remember | Cookie, first-party, essential | Set only if you tick “Keep me logged in”. Holds a random token (we store only a hash of it) that signs you back in. | 30 days, or until you log out |
3.Local and session storage
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
tf-theme | Local storage, preference | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. | Until you clear it |
tf-suggest-draft | Local storage, functional | Saves your “Suggest a person” form as you type so you do not lose work. Stays on your device and is removed when you submit the suggestion. | Until you submit or clear it |
tf_s | Session storage, analytics | A random number that groups the pages you view in one visit, so we can count visits and time on site. Contains nothing about you and is not sent to anyone else. | Until you close the tab, or 30 minutes of inactivity |
The theme and draft items are created only when you use those features. tf_s is never created if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.
4.Third-party services
To load quickly, our pages fetch fonts from Google Fonts, code libraries from jsDelivr and styles from the Tailwind CSS CDN, and some profile images may come from the hosts that published them. These services do not set cookies through TrackFame, but like any web server they receive your IP address and browser details when your browser downloads files from them.
If our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile bot protection, or the site is served through Cloudflare, Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie (such as __cf_bm) to tell people from bots. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for details.
Links and embeds that take you to other websites (for example a person’s official social-media page) are governed by those sites’ own cookie policies once you visit them.
5.Your choices
Because these items are strictly necessary or simply store a choice you made, the law (such as the EU ePrivacy rules) does not require consent for them. You are still in control:
- Your browser settings let you block or delete cookies and site data. If you block
tf_sidyou can still read the site, but you will not be able to sign in or submit forms. - Log out to remove
tf_rememberimmediately. - Turn on Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser to switch our analytics off for you.
If we ever add a cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first and update this notice.
