Biography
Early life
Tiger Shroff was born Jai Hemant Shroff in Mumbai, the son of actor Jackie Shroff and producer Ayesha Dutt; his younger sister Krishna Shroff runs a fitness business. He studied at the American School of Bombay and trained from childhood in martial arts, gymnastics and dance. He was awarded an honorary fifth-degree black belt in taekwondo in 2014.
Debut and Baaghi
He made his film debut in Sabbir Khan’s action romance Heropanti (2014), winning several best debut awards, including the IIFA award for Star Debut of the Year. Baaghi (2016), a martial-arts action film, established him as an action hero and launched a series: Baaghi 2 (2018), Baaghi 3 (2020) and Baaghi 4 (2025). He also starred in the superhero comedy A Flying Jatt (2016) and the dance film Munna Michael (2017).
War and big-budget action
His biggest hit came with Siddharth Anand’s spy thriller War (2019), in which he starred opposite Hrithik Roshan, one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of its year. Later films include Heropanti 2 (2022), Ganapath (2023), Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (2024) with Akshay Kumar, and Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again (2024). He is known for performing many of his own stunts.
Music, fitness and sport
Shroff has released several music singles, including “Unbelievable” (2020) and “Casanova” (2021), and dubbed the Hindi voice of Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017). He co-founded the mixed martial arts promotion Matrix Fight Night in 2019 and launched the football club Mumbay FC in 2024. He is a fitness role model for many young fans.
2026 Juhu firing
On 18 October 2026, gunmen fired at Tiger Shroff’s car in Juhu, Mumbai, as he was leaving a football game. He was not seriously hurt, but his driver and a passer-by were injured. Mumbai Police registered a case and arrested several accused; claims of responsibility attributed to people linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang had not been confirmed by police at the time of writing.
