Background
Farquhar grew up in western Sydney and attended James Ruse Agricultural High School. He studied information systems at the University of New South Wales.

He and Cannon-Brookes founded Atlassian in 2002 aiming to earn the graduate salary they would have received at a big company. The “accidental billionaires” built it into a global software company.

As co-CEO he focused on product and growth. He stepped down in August 2024 but remains on the board and an adviser.
