Biography
Young scientist
Collison grew up in Dromineer, County Tipperary. At 16 he won the BT Young Scientist Exhibition with a programming language project and went to MIT, which he left.
Auctomatic
He and John founded Auctomatic, a tool for eBay sellers, which was sold in 2008 for $5 million.
Stripe
In 2010 they founded Stripe to let developers add payments with a few lines of code. It processes over a trillion dollars a year and powers companies such as Amazon and Shopify.
Science and ideas
He co-founded the Arc Institute for biomedical research and Stripe Press, which publishes books. In 2026 he co-founded the Rhine Group policy forum with former Italian prime minister Mario Draghi.
