Background
Huang studied computer science at Zhejiang University and the University of Wisconsin–Madison, mentored by NetEase’s William Ding.
He worked at Google from 2004 and helped set up its China office.
Pinduoduo
After several start-ups, he launched Pinduoduo in 2015, using WeChat sharing for group discounts and targeting smaller cities. It listed on the Nasdaq in 2018.
Temu
He stepped down as chairman in 2021 to do research in food science. PDD launched Temu in 2022, which grew rapidly worldwide.
