Biography
Background
Chen moved from Taiwan to Illinois aged eight. He attended the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy and studied computer science at the University of Illinois, leaving to join PayPal.
YouTube
With Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim he founded YouTube in 2005. As CTO he solved the problem of storing and serving huge amounts of video cheaply.
Investing
He joined Google Ventures in 2014 and later moved back to Taiwan, investing in start-ups there.
After Google
After Google’s purchase in 2006, he stayed until 2011, then co-founded AVOS Systems, which ran Delicious and Tap11, and later the video app MixBit.
