Oracle
Benioff wrote games for the Atari 800 as a teenager and studied at the University of Southern California. He spent 13 years at Oracle, becoming its youngest vice-president.
Salesforce
In 1999 he founded Salesforce in a San Francisco apartment with the slogan “No Software”, offering sales tools through a web browser. Its subscription model became the standard for business software.
Growth
Salesforce bought companies including Tableau, MuleSoft and Slack, and introduced AI agents with Agentforce in 2024.
Philanthropy and Time
He created the 1-1-1 model, donating 1 per cent of equity, product and staff time. He and his wife Lynne bought Time in 2018 and fund children’s hospitals in San Francisco and Oakland.
