Biography
A philosophy graduate
Kunal Shah grew up in Mumbai and studied philosophy at Wilson College. He enrolled for an MBA but left to start a business, and has said that philosophy taught him to think about human behaviour.
FreeCharge
In 2010 he co-founded FreeCharge, which let users recharge mobile phones online and receive coupons. It grew rapidly and was bought by Snapdeal in 2015, in one of the largest Indian internet deals of its time.
CRED
In 2018 he founded CRED, an app that rewards users for paying their credit card bills on time and offers other financial services. Its quirky advertising campaigns featuring older film stars attracted wide attention.
