Chuck Geschke was an American computer scientist who co-founded Adobe with John Warnock in 1982 and served as its president. Together they created PostScript and, later, PDF. In 1992 he survived a kidnapping. He died in 2021.

Background
Geschke studied classics and mathematics at Xavier University, considered becoming a priest, and earned a PhD in computer science at Carnegie Mellon.
Xerox PARC
He founded PARC’s Imaging Sciences Laboratory in 1980 and hired John Warnock.
Adobe
In 1982 they founded Adobe. Geschke was COO and president from 1989 to 2000, overseeing growth from PostScript to Photoshop and Acrobat.
Kidnapping
In 1992 he was kidnapped at gunpoint and held for four days before the FBI rescued him. He died in 2021.
