Early career
Bhavish Aggarwal grew up in Ludhiana and studied computer science at IIT Bombay. He worked at Microsoft Research India before leaving to start a business.
Ola
In 2010 he and Ankit Bhati founded Ola, initially as a service for booking taxis, after a bad experience with a rented car. Ola grew into one of India’s largest ride-hailing platforms, competing with Uber and expanding to a few other countries.
Ola Electric
In 2017 he founded Ola Electric, which built a large factory in Tamil Nadu and launched electric scooters in 2021. The company listed on the stock market in 2024, and has faced both rapid growth and customer complaints about service.
Krutrim
In 2023 he launched Krutrim, an artificial intelligence company aiming to build AI models and computing infrastructure for Indian languages. He is known for outspoken posts on social media about technology and national self-reliance.
